Ep 69: A Very Special Episode In this episode of the Spiraken Manga Review, Xan and his Guests Baz, Fightbait & Elliot, cover many important topics and teach us valuable lessions in life and the pursuit of Happiness. While that is going on, they also review the following manga “Honey Blonde” by Fukudahda, “Love Selection” by Gunma Kisaragi & “Ogenki Clinic” by Haruka Inui

After trying to merge the three sound files for about a month, Xan gave up and decided to release the raw uncut version of this episode, there is a loss of sound quality but it is worth it to hear the insane banter between the hosts of this fine podcast. Xan has returned from Las Vegas

I’m back from my 4 day vacation in Las Vegas. Did I win alot of money….No. But I had a great time. Here is a quick synopisis of Xan’s adventure… with some visual aids

Here is where I stayed. Pretty nice with 2 pools. Isn’t that special?

So i started out by checking out the Luxor. Awesome Transformers 2 Ad. However, there was no transformers stuff inside. That’s False Advertising!!!

Checked out Paris. I did not know that there was a balloon outside

New York New York.. They got the crowded part right and the angry people

I don’t know what they are building but it is artistic, shiny and crooked. Xan approves of this

M. a resort/spa that is waay out in the desert

Excaliber was very King Arthury but not as cool as Xan giving the V sign ouside it

MGM was pretty Cool. Especially the Architecture inside

The Venitian was beautiful but i was unable to go inside due to time constraints. Maybe next time….

So once I was done looking at casinos I went inside and here’s what I did

I gambled a little bit and my entire winnings is right here -_-’

I also took in a couple of sights

Chilled out with some stone frogs waiting for people

This place was awesome, They has Sushi and JPop. Brilliant

Sapporo Beer was very good and cheap. I had 6 of these ^_^

For desert/detox Xan went to Serendipity3 for ice cream. Did you know that there is a $1000 Sunday?

The gardens at the Bellagio were trippy. Especially with the Water Orb thing

Ep 54: Incest Is Not Best

In this episode of the Spiraken Manga Review, Xan reviews a very sad love story about a love, which should never be “Koi Kaze”

This episode was done in advance so no new news. Xan forgot to explain this in the episode but here is some additional information about Koi Kaze

The manga which Xan reviewed is very sad. Not sad in a cry baby sad but rather in a meloncoly way. Rarely does a manga, which deals with incest, show the negative side of that kind of relationship. Koi Kaze examines this topic and shows the forbidden love between two who should not be in love The characters in this manga are in a situation which should never be even thought of. It goes against several taboos and is something that they both know to be wrong but they stick with it. The fact that Koshiro is concerned about the social taboos and the reprecussions of Nanoko and his actions shows how developed a manga this is.

After the large response for so many anime themes/openings/closings/bgm, i have narrowed it down to not 35 but a reasonable 50 songs. so instead of 5 episodes with seven songs, it will be five episodes of 10 songs. these episodes will be the top 50 anime songs of all time according to various people and will be posted each saturday for the next 5 weeks. new episode will be up by 11 am est.

Welcome to the Society for providing information and reviews of Manga’s website, also known as Spiraken. We are a manga review podcast that reviews and discusses various mangas each week. Each episode we review 2 different mangas and give them a rating.

The ratings are:

1) Have a Priest purify it….and then we burn it.

2) Your typical reading material…at your local Correctional Facility or Psychiatric Institution.

3) A gift from crazy Aunt Muriel…okay but forgettable.

4) Borrow it from a friend and never return it…unless offered Pocky.

5) Reallly, really fucking cool. If you do not buy this right now your blood will dry out, your brain will freeze, and your soul will be forfeit to the great Zomagustar! Mwa ha ha ha! (Hail Ippallazo!)

Also here are some basic concepts and terms we use in this podcast.

manga- the Japanese word for comics and print cartoons. In their modern form, manga date from shortly after World War II but have a long, complex history in earlier Japanese art.

In Japan, manga are widely read by people of all ages, so that a broad range of subjects and topics occur in manga. This includes action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, horror, sexuality, as well as business and commerce, among still many others.

Otaku- a Japanese term used to refer to people with obsessive interests, particularly anime and manga.

Gaijen- a Japanese word meaning “foreigner” or “outsider”.

chibi- a Japanese word meaning “short person” or “small child”. The word has gained currency amongst fans of manga and anime. Its meaning is of someone or some animal that is small. It can be translated as “little”. Ex. Sailor Mini Moon=Sailor Chibi Moon.

Pocky- a Japanese snack food produced by the Ezaki Glico Company of Japan. It was first sold in 1965, and traditionally consists of a sesame biscuit stick coated with chocolate. Be careful of bricking in hot weather!

baka- idiot, stupid.

fan service- a vaguely defined term chiefly used for Japanese visual media—particularly in anime fandom—to refer to elements in a story that are unnecessary to a storyline and are designed to amuse or excite the audience with sexually-derived content.
